Our favourite reds mixed case of wines.
David Finlayson The Pepper Pot: Made from grown grapes in the Stellenbosch and Paarl regions, this wine is created to show the fresh, fruity and spice-driven flavours of these Rhone varietals. The colour is youthful and purple/red. The nose is one of crushed black pepper, dark mulberry, and mixed berry coulis.
Cloof The Very Sexy Shiraz: Grown in vineyards that have been described as “Shiraz Heaven”, this wine’s luscious fruit was accessorised with the very best French oak, making a package that is so appealing and seductive that it could only be named after the experience one has when drinking it.
Porcupine Ridge Merlot: This balanced wine is medium-bodied, smooth with very fine cocoa powdery tannins. Dark chocolate and hints of white pepper and nutmeg linger on a classic mocha finish. Another classic well priced red that delivers far more than its price suggests. A firm favourite of ours.
Landskroon Merlot: Rich and full-bodied with delicious flavours of berry fruits and plum supported by a touch of spice gained from ageing in French oak barrels.
Vondeling Shiraz: Ripe plum and mulberry aromas are uplifted with cherry blossom and violets, while infused with subtle cinnamon and aromatic white pepper. The palate is gentle and the tannins fresh but rounded. The aromatics continue into the palate with added blueberry, a hint of roasted black olives and soft-spoken sweet spice.
Groote Post Old Mans Red Blend: A down to earth, ripe fruit driven blended red wine. Cherry, mulberry and cedarwood are prominent on the nose with soft sweet tannins on the palate giving a smooth finish.
